Leading to Better Workplace Mental Health Series

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new video series: Leading to Better Mental Health. The videos will feature insight from our Founding Partner CEOs on their commitment to, and journey in creating mentally healthy workplaces.

We want this video series to empower organisations to take action, and to show that employee wellbeing isn’t just a HR issue – it’s a leadership challenge, and a golden opportunity to make a real difference.

Here, Surendra Rosha Co-CEO of HSBC Asia Pacific discusses why working towards better workplace mental health is more than a ‘nice-to-have’ and how it helps attract and retain talent, and ultimately boosts productivity.

Watch this video to hear BHP talks us through their journey to improving mental health at work, and the steps they have taken to de-stigmatise mental health. CEO Mike Henry explains how they identified common issues for their workforce, and opens up about how the willingness of senior leaders to share lived experience of mental health has given hope to others.

Why is this needed?

Poor mental health is on the rise, particularly amongst Gen Z and millennials; this not only impacts the communities in which we live, but the places that we work. There’s also a lack of evidence on the best methods that employers can use to create and maintain mentally healthy workplaces – evident in the 12 billion working days that are lost to depression and anxiety each year.

As an employer, you have a unique opportunity to support your people through difficult times which in turn benefits the wider success of your organisation. We know that happy employees are more productive, more engaged, and more likely to thrive.

To join our mission for a better future of workplace mental health, sign the Leadership Pledge today.

At the GBC, we strongly believe in the power of sharing insights and good practice to improve the future of workplace mental health. Because we’re stronger together, our mission is one that’s based on community. To make that community more impactful than even, we’ll be regularly featuring new CEO videos to this page – giving you valuable insight and advice from business leaders across the world.
